The BGMI Pro Series saw some of the most exciting esports action we’ve ever seen. Now, KRAFTON India has officially kicked off the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SHOWDOWN (BMSD) 2026, bringing together 48 of the country’s top BGMI teams for one of the biggest invite-only tournaments of the year. The month-long competition begins today, September 22, with the Promotion & Relegation stage, then culminates in the LAN Grand Finals from October 16–18 at the Savaaya Convention in Hyderabad.
Unlike open qualifiers, every team in BMSD 2026 earned its spot through competitive performance across the KIE Leaderboard, BGIS, and BMPS, making this one of the strongest fields in Indian BGMI esports. A ₹1 crore prize pool is on the line, with the champions taking home ₹30 lakh.
Orangutan returns to defend its BMSD title
The second edition of BMSD features a significantly larger competitive field than last year. KRAFTON has doubled the number of invited teams from 24 in 2025 to 48 in 2026, raising the stakes across every stage of the tournament.
Defending champions Orangutan return to Hyderabad looking to retain the title they won during the tournament’s debut edition. They’ll face stiff competition from some of India’s biggest organizations, including GodLike Esports, winners of BMPS 2026, Team Soul, the reigning BGIS 2026 champions, and Nebula Esports, fresh off their BGMI Masters Series Season 5 victory.
While the ₹1 crore prize pool is a major attraction, BMSD 2026 also serves as a gateway to international competition. The top six teams from the tournament will qualify for the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA INTERNATIONAL CUP (BMIC) 2026, where they’ll face teams from Japan and South Korea. Strong performances there could ultimately lead to qualification for the GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2026, giving Indian teams a direct path to the world stage.
