Go on to any Adopt Me trading chat and the same abbreviations ring out repeatedly: FR, NFR, R, F. These labels are not for show. They say about potions used on a pet and they alter the value of the pet.
There are two potions which are important for trading. A ride potion allows you to sit on the pet and ride it. A fly potion will allow the pet to fly with you. These are permanently attached to one pet and are transferred with it if the pet is traded. This difference becomes especially noticeable when players buy adopt me pets in their natural state and compare them with the same pets that already have both potions applied.
If a pet has both, it can be ridden and flown. The common labels are derived from that combination, which is also why the price differences can become significant.
The neon prefixes are where the numbers get large, because an NFR already contains four full-grown pets plus the potions on top.
The amount of money required to produce a potion is a real cost. Someone got it and decided to use it on that particular pet. With an FR pet, both the pet and the two potions are being purchased.
That’s why the plain pet and the FR version of the same pet have different numbers. They’re not identical.
Assuming a pet has potions because the other player said so. The window shows what the pet actually is. If you cannot confirm fly and ride status from the window itself, treat it as plain and price it that way. The same applies to age: an FR newborn and an FR full-grown are different trades.
For a pet you’re in the process of keeping, potions will be something you use again and again, and again. When you fly across the map, you fly faster than walking and after a day or two, it’s no longer a novelty.
If a pet is in your inventory on its way to being traded, it’s not the same calculation. Potions increase value, but they increase the cost to acquire the potion and you won’t always get that back in the trade.
Fly and ride potions are permanent, they transfer with the pet, and they change its trade value. Learn the shorthand, verify status in the window rather than in chat, and price plain and FR versions as the separate things they are.
Fly and ride, meaning both potions have been applied to that pet. NFR adds neon to the same combination, and MFR refers to a mega neon with both potions.
Yes. The potions are attached to the pet permanently, so whoever receives the pet receives the potions with it.
Generally yes, because two potions were spent on it. The size of the gap depends on how much demand exists for that specific pet.
No. Applying a potion is a one-way decision, which is why it is worth deciding whether you are keeping the pet before you use one.
Check the trade window itself rather than taking the other player’s word for it. Chat claims are not verification, and the window shows the actual state of the pet.
