It’s Official: Facebook is Working on a Dislike Button

In today’s Q&A session at Facebook Headquarters, Mark Zuckerberg said that Facebook is working on a Dislike button and it’ll be tested soon.

The Dislike button on Facebook is the social networking website’s long rumored and one of the most requested features. In today’s Q&A session at Facebook Headquarters, Facebook CEO announced that his company is working on a Dislike button.
“I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years. Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it,” he said. It should be noted that in the past, Mark has dismissed the idea by calling it too negative.
He said that people have been asking for the Dislike button on Facebook for many years and it’s the time to release this feature. He hoped that the button won’t be used for showing negative emotions, instead it will be used for expressing empathy.
Zuckerberg said that he didn’t implement the idea earlier as he didn’t want Facebook to develop a Reddit-style system of downvoting and upvoting. “What they really want is the ability to express empathy. Not every moment is a good moment,” Zuckerberg said.
Facebook launched the like button long back in 2009.
Currently, Facebook is working on the Dislike button and it’ll be starting the testing soon.
