Microsoft is Downloading Windows 10 on Your PC Even If You DON’T Want it

Are you ignoring that little message prompting you to install Windows 10 on your Windows 7 or 8.1 PC? It seems that Microsoft is already downloading Windows 10 on your PC without asking.

indows 10 is being installed on PCs at an exceptional rate. More than 75 million customers have installed the operating system within 30 days of debut. Even with some of the best features in a Windows operating system, company has committed few blunders. After facing the heat over privacy issues, Microsoft is now under the scanner for downloading Windows 10 without asking.
Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 10 is being downloaded to computers even if you don’t want it. This happened after an Inquirer reader noticed that, despite not having ‘reserved’ Windows 10, he saw a $Windows.~BT folder in his PC, containing the files of the new OS. The user didn’t plan to download the update or upgrade his PC.
The reader says that he thought that Windows 10 upgrade was optional, but his PC repeatedly tried to install Windows 10 and it had a huge 3.5GB to 6GB hidden folder named $Windows.~BT.
He says: “I know of two instances where people on metered connections went over their data cap for August because of this unwanted download. My own internet (slow DSL) was crawling for a week or so until I discovered this problem. In fact, that’s what led me to it. Not only does it download, it tries to install every time the computer is booted.”
Confirming this action, Microsoft said that for individuals who have chosen to receive automatic Windows updates (don’t confuse it with Windows 10 upgrade), Microsoft makes the upgradable devices ready for Windows 10 by downloading the files.
So, when the upgrade is ready, user is shown the message that the Windows 10 upgrade is ready to be installed. So, if you are downloading the usual security updates via Windows Update, don’t be surprised to see a big-ass Windows 10 hidden folder on your system drive.
