Instagram has introduced a new feature designed especially for college and university students. The new update allows users to add their college to their profile and connect with fellow students in a more organized way. It lets you display your school on your profile and browse a directory of classmates.

How To Add Your School to Instagram

Students in the U.S. will see an option to “Add School” right on their Instagram profile. To confirm that you are a current student, Instagram uses a verification process through UNiDAYS, a trusted student verification platform.

Instagram has partnered up with UNiDAYS, one of the best-known verification sites for students, so it is absolutely fine. You will need to provide them with some general information in this step to verify if, indeed, you are studying at the university or college that you chose. This step ensures only legitimate students get to become members of the community and make the space private and safe.

Then your school will show up as a banner on your page. This banner will show which college or university you go to, and you can even make it so that only designated persons will see it. The idea is to make it easy for classmates to recognize and connect with each other in a safe, student-only space.

When you add your school, you will get access to the student directory, so you will instantly be able to find and contact classmates. From there, you can browse through names, discover people from your year, and connect with friends and classmates in just a few steps.
