OPPO K14 5G First Look: 7,000mAh Battery, IP69 Rating, and Dimensity 6300

OPPO has just taken the covers off its new budget offering, the K14. Last year’s K13 series was a particular favourite of mine, as it packed decent specs for the price. This year, while the price has risen, the K15 is trying to replicate the same formula of focusing on endurance and durability while also bringing improvements in display brightness, connectivity, and thermal performance.

We’ve had the OPPO K14 5G with us for a short time, and while testing is still ongoing, we can already talk about the phone’s design, hardware, and major features. A full review, including camera samples and performance testing, will follow once we have spent more time with the device.

Design & Hardware

This year’s K14 follows the company’s modern design language with a large camera module and a flat rear panel. The device features a clean, minimal design with rounded corners that make it comfortable to hold during daily use. Color options are plenty, including Icy Blue, Prism Violet, and Prism White.

On the front, there’s a 6.75-inch HD+ display that should reach a claimed peak brightness of 1125 nits. Beyond that, the company has bundled features like Splash Touch, which improves responsiveness when the screen is wet.

Durability is one of the major highlights here. The OPPO K14 carries IP69, IP68, and IP66 certifications, meaning the phone is protected against dust, splashes, and even high-pressure water jets.

Optics are handled by a 50MP OV50D primary sensor with an f/1.85 aperture, and sadly, no 4K video recording support. On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie shooter. We’ve taken the K14’s cameras for a spin, and they aren’t that bad. We’ll post the samples soon.

Performance & Battery

The OPPO K14 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, built on a 6nm process. OPPO says the processor can deliver balanced performance for everyday tasks such as browsing, social media, and gaming. We are currently testing these claims, so be sure to wait for the full review.

On the software side, the OPPO K14 runs ColorOS, which, you might know, is my favourite Android skin. While the ColorOS experience on expensive and budget phones differs significantly, OPPO has introduced a new 60-month fluency protection, which it says helps keep the device running smoothly over extended periods of use.

Perhaps the biggest selling point of the K14 is the massive 7,000 mAh battery, which should last multiple days on a charge. The device also supports 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging, which should help recharge the large battery relatively quickly. Exact recharge timings will be in the full review.
