With a market cap of 7.74B, D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) trades at $22.11. The stock has a price-to-earnings ratio of -15.85. As of 2025-12-02, D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) stock has fluctuated between $21.42 and $22.91.
This market trend was accompanied by the introduction of a special United States government-focused business unit.
The project is expected to tap into the growing federal quantum technology demand, thus helping capitalize an already existing market, and justifying analysts to declare a Strong/Buy rating.
Led by Jack Sears Jr., a 25-year government contracting veteran with historic ties to Precise Systems, Parsons is focusing more on market entry strategy, secure application development and products that meet federal standards.
Sears is the current holder of the position of Vice-President, United States Government Solutions and, therefore, strategically positioned D-Wave to take on the challenge presented by the national-security by its Advantage2 quantum computing platform which was recently deployed at Davidson Technologies, Alabama to support mission-critical department-of-defense operations including radar-detect and logistical-coordination.
“D-Wave is uniquely positioned to address many of the challenges facing our government,” emphasizing the company’s readiness to “aggressively push quantum adoption in service of national security and defense.”
The move follows the instructions of the chiefs of the United States Department of the Army.
In addition, Secretary of the Army, Daniel Driscoll, and the Acting Chief Technology officer of the Navy, Justin Fanelli, have each spoken about the need to develop quantum applications to address the logistics and transportation needs of our service branches.
Dr. Alan Baratz, CEO of D-Wave, said
“The call to use quantum technologies to address our nation’s interests is increasing, as the U.S. government faces complex challenges that require more powerful and agile problem-solving resources to protect our nation,”
Jack Sears Jr. made the assertion in a statement that D-Wave is exceptionally positioned to meet a wide diversity of government requirements, with particular focus on the willingness of the Advantage 2 platform to take sensitive applications.
As of 2021, over 200 million unique problem cases have been solved on D-Wave quantum annealing devices by more than one hundred institutional users highlighting its viable application in the field of optimization and artificial intelligence.
Analytically the creation of the unit has the possibility to open billions of dollars of federal contracts as quantum-technology budgets rise.
D-Wave Quantum Inc. (QBTS) offers a highly speculative risk-reward profile within the volatile, high-growth industry of quantum computing.
The stock’s recent momentum is less based on improving fundamentals and more on retail-driven speculation, reflected in its continued growing popularity in forums such as r/WallStreetBets.
While these short-term momentum-based trades can generate sharp rallies, they often lack the economic and fundamental durability required for long-term compounding.
Therefore, investors perceive QBTS as a high-risk speculative play driven by retail hyper rather than mainstream quantum technology adoption.
