Elon Musk is a brother to Kimbal Musk, who was a part of the Tesla board of directors and has recently sold stocks worth 25.6 million in Tesla (TSLA), during a period when the company had put itself in a position to reach all-time high valuations.
The shares were sold at a weighted average price of $450.66, in multiple transactions ranging from $450.44 to $450.90.
Tesla’s stock currently trades at $446.89, slightly below the sale price. It is an important move in the excessive unstable path of Tesla, which provokes criticism of insider caution.
He still owns 1,376,373 shares with a valuation of about 615nm at current market prices, which is an insignificant fraction of Tesla market capitalization of $1.49 trillion. Similarly, he sold 15,242 shares to a charity the same day.
Over the past year, Kimbal Musk has sold a total of 223,408 shares and has not purchased any shares. The insider transaction history for Tesla Inc shows that there have been 2 insider buys and 27 insider sells over the same timeframe.
However, as noted by InvestingPro, the company has high ratios of value per share in comparison with its income and receipts.
The sales distribution of Tesla products indicate that it is regionally diverse. Tesla China’s wholesale sales in November were 86,700 units, a year-on-year increase of 9.9% and a month-on-month increase of 41%.
Norway registered the highest number of vehicles (28,606) to date in January to November, beating the Volkswagen record of 2016.
The deal is more a continuation than an abrupt reversal of the profit-taking behavior of Kimbal Musk; the Tesla stock has increased by 98% since April 2025, despite the extreme volatility.
Wedbush analyst, Dan Ives says,
“Tesla could reach $2 trillion in market cap by end of 2026 as the autonomous era begins in Austin”.
