On Monday, 6 January 2026, the Taiwan equity market made a phenomenal return with the Taiwan Weighted Index soaring 1.33 % to reach a new all-time high.

The significance of Taiwan is also highlighted in this rally as its contribution to the rising is heavy on both semiconductor and technology stocks.

Till now, the index has already gained by 28.12% which is doing better as compared to most of its global peers.

This is because Taiwanese semiconductor and technology leader companies propelled the escalation due to increasing demand of AI hardware worldwide.

King Core Electronics Inc. (TW:6155) shot up 9.99%-48.45% on the support of strong AI component orders.

Edom Technology (TW:3048) followed with a 9.99% increase to 45.70, and Bestec Power (TW:3308) increased 9.95 % to 22.10%, which was driven by the need to provide power to data-centres.

Global Context and Ai Beneficiaries

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC, TW:2330), the heavyweight of the benchmark expected to grow its revenues by nearly a quarter in 2026 due to the trend of artificial intelligence chips, and Lite-On Technology (TW:2301), which gains due to optical and electronic components on AI gadgets, are other entities that would presumably appreciate this trend.

Though there are laggards that saw the range of 5-8 their numbers, that is, King Slide Works (TW:2059), Gold Circuit Electronics (TW:2368), and Jentech (TW:3653), are reduced in general market breadth was strong and this indicates a high level of investor confidence.

Bright Future of the Taiwan Weighted Index

Projections indicate that the Taiwan Weighted Index will be at 35,000 in 2026, with the projection being boosted in the export of electronics.

The leadership of Taiwan in semiconductors related to AI, data-centre power solution, and high-performance electronics places the market in a position of continued outperformance. Investors must keep a track on an announcement of earnings made by TSMC on the 15th of January, which will determine the further course of the technological-focused momentum.
