But before we hop into the hints and reveal, let’s go over the basics for anyone just getting started (or coming back after a streak break).
What Is Wordle?
Wordle is the global word guessing sensation where you’re given six tries to guess a five letter word. First created by Josh Wardle and acquired by The New York Times in 2022, the game became a morning ritual for millions across the world. In fact, players solved Wordle more than 5.3 billion times in 2024 alone. Each new puzzle drops at midnight local time. It’s simple, social, and surprisingly strategic.
How to Play Wordle
Start by guessing any five letter word. Green tiles mean a letter is in the correct place. Yellow tiles indicate the letter is in the word, but not in the right spot. Gray tiles? That letter isn’t in the word at all. You’ve got six guesses total, and each one brings you closer (hopefully) to the day’s answer. If you’re logged into your New York Times account, your win streak and stats are saved and displayed. Wordle is playable via the NYT website, app, Meta Quest, and Discord.
