Meta Launches Paid AI Subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp

Meta Platforms is launching premium subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, unlocking exclusive AI tools to boost creativity and productivity.

This bold move, confirmed Monday and set for testing soon, taps into the company’s massive 1 billion monthly active Meta AI users as of mid-2025.

Premium Power-Up

Paid tiers, distinct from the 2023-launched Meta Verified, promise advanced features like full access to Vibes AI video creation which reached 2 million daily users in November 2025 and scaled Manus AI agents.

Singapore-based Manus (The Chinese government has said it will review the estimated $2 billion deal announced in December 2025 to assess whether it complies with the country’s export controls and technology transfer policies) brings general AI for tasks like market analysis and coding. Free basics stay intact, but subscribers get enhanced Llama-powered smarts, contrasting Meta’s open-source past amid rivals’ paid walls from OpenAI and Google.

Strategic Shift

Meta’s AI ecosystem exploded: Llama downloads topped 1.2 billion in April 2025, with monthly usage surging 10x earlier that year. Q3 2025 revenue jumped 26% to $51.2 billion, fueled by AI ad tools generating a $60 billion run rate.

According to Ampere Analysis, streaming content is expected to increase by 6% worldwide this year to $101 billion, accounting for almost 40% of all content spending.

The growth rate of streaming spending would be somewhat more than the 2% increase in worldwide content spending, which is predicted to reach $255 billion this year ($251 billion in 2025). Yet Chinese regulators probe Manus for tech export issues, risking delays.

Road Ahead

Meta Platforms offers a fascinating investment paradox in early 2026. The company has exceptional financial performance (26% revenue growth, 40% operating margins, $45 billion+ annual free cash flow), but trades at reasonable valuations, implying skepticism about future prospects.

Still, seamless Manus rollout might propel Meta ahead, turning AI costs into profit engines and stock to new highs.
