Nvidia Halts H200 Shipments to China, Shifts TSMC Capacity to Vera Rubin Chips

After dropping out of exporting H200 AI Processors to China, Nvidia now opted to produce the same domestically, meaning that there is a transition to global AI dominance. NVIDIA, a multinational company involved in the artificial-intelligence processing units H200, has halted the delivery of its processors to the Chinese market and has shifted its production capacity to the Vera Rubin system.

Financial Times, March 5, 2026, announced that this abrupt action is an encouraging indication of a worsening relationship between the United States and China in the area of technology, with Nvidia choosing to focus on big and open global consumption over the artificial impairment of its export ability that has defined the United States strategy in 2026.

High-level Strategic Production Suspension

NVIDIA, as per a corporate policy, has stopped manufacturing H200 units bound for China, the second-most advanced AI chip, at manufacturing factories run by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company TSMC. Two industry insiders mentioned the organization is shifting this precious production capacity over to the Vera Rubin system, a next-generation hardware solution to be announced at CES in 2026 that will be released in the second half of the year.

This has changed in spite of the United States giving Limited Use exportation licenses on small fulfillments of H200 delivery to China during the previous week; an official in the Commerce Department verified that nothing has been delivered as of February 24, 2026. A previous administration led by President Trump had supported sales in January, but the bureaucratic curbs and bans in China on customs, a reminiscence of the previous partial bans on H200 components shipments, had continued to cripple shipments.

Contextual Background and Implications of the Market

Until the export ban in 2022, China was one of the key growth drivers of Nvidia; it generated about 20% of all data-center revenue. New problems aggravate this effect: in January, the suppliers stopped the manufacturing of H200 parts as the prohibition of the entries were issued in Beijing despite corporate giants like Alibaba and Tencent placing orders of more than two million items.

The looming pressure from the governments has led to the Chinese companies shifting their attention to Huawei Ascend chips, therefore. The decision had little effect on the Nvidia equity performance, whose revenue had reshaped record-breaking Q12026 projections that were even higher than the Ushered-up projections by $2 billion dollars, according to the Times of India.

Expert Commentary

One more prominent analyst, known as Ming-chi Kuo, expressed that such a strategic re-focus would protect Nvidia against regulatory uncertainty and ensure that 100% of the high-end production gets channeled to loyal markets.

Future Outlook

The Vera Rubin platform will be projected to achieve the top spot in AI training by 2027, as Nvidia Inference Microservices provides the framework for stable software revenues. Though the Chinese sales are expected to fall, possibly to the detriment of losing up to $5 trillion company of annual revenues, the global hyperscale market, which is familiar to Amazon Web Services and Google, will probably neutralize the supply, which will only strengthen Nvidia dominance in the AI GPU market just as U.S. tariffs increase and Beijing strives to become technologically independent, a strategically wise decision in which the focus is on innovation, not geopolitics.
