Google in Talks with Chinese Firms for Advanced Data Centre Cooling Systems

Google is currently in contact with Chinese suppliers, including Envicool, as they are actively looking to secure advanced cooling solutions for increasing data centres.

This talk emerged from the recent visit by Google’s procurement team to mainland China, illustrating the growing pressure on global supply chains. This is because the demand for computing is increasing in industries, so they are facing challenges in sourcing the equipment required for large-scale systems that run efficiently.

Cooling is a major concern, especially with the rapidly growing demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure. Unlike traditional data centre setups, modern data centres generate more heat due to heavy AI workloads. This has increased the demand for liquid based cooling systems, as they easily handle higher temperatures as compared to standard air cooling systems.

Envicool is one of the most preferred firms due to its great experience in developing systems. Different other Chinese companies are also part of this discussion.

Current industry trends specify the demand for liquid cooling solutions in the market, noticeably increasing their demand by double in size within a year. This increment is noticed due to large investments in AI, which requires more powerful hardware and more efficient ways to control heat.

Furthermore, it was reported by Chinese suppliers that this increasing demand resulted in supply constraints in other regions, such as Taiwan. Companies are looking for other sourcing options to avoid delays.

Although no official agreement has been announced, the discussions have underlined how crucial cooling technology has become, especially with the rapidly growing scale of AI capabilities. If the talks move forward, it could increase the demand of Chinese manufacturers in global data centre supply chains.

Companies like Google continue to invest greatly in heavy centres, while securing reliable and efficient cooling systems is the top priority.
