Samsung Ends Sales Of $2,899 Galaxy Z TriFold After Three Months

The sales of Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold smartphones are ending only after three months. Samsung Electronics will stop selling this smartphone in South Korea and later on in the United States after selling the current stock.

The Galaxy Z TriFold was released last year and costs around $2,899 in the United States, and around 3.59 million won in South Korea. This smartphone has two hinges and can be unfolded into a 10-inch tablet. With its launch, Samsung showed its engineering capabilities, offering a large screen for multitasking, watching videos, and productivity. Despite this innovation, this phone is not the first preference for many users.

Since this product was at a high price and stock was limited, it was only accessible to the wealthy and early buyers. Moreover, this phone was only sold through Samsung and not through any other retailers. Although Samsung’s website says this phone is “sold out”, a few of its units are remaining in stores in the US, including Frisco, Texas, and Queens, New York.

The Chief Operating Officer of Samsung, Choi Won-joon, stated that the company has not yet decided whether the TriFold is a successor, as it is complicated to decide. A few of its features, such as a wide screen, might be repeated in cheaper Samsung foldable phones.

Samsung has designed TriFold to showcase its design technology and not to sell. The phone showed the capability of what foldable designs can do with its dual hinges and big screen, even though its high price made it out of reach for the majority of buyers.

Although TriFold was not active for a long time, it drew attention from tech-oriented people and the media for its unique design. Its unique folding mechanism and large screen sparked discussions about the future of smartphones.

Samsung is also expanding its other phones, including the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which has new AI features, including Privacy Display. Such features easily target a larger audience.

Overall, the TriFold highlights Samsung’s approach of combining unique, innovative devices with mainstream phones, making them efficient for everyday use. It shows what foldable phones could look like in the future, while the company continues to focus on products that most people can use.
