A medical device manufacturer, Stryker Corp., suffered a cyberattack. After this attack, US cybersecurity authorities sent an alert to other companies to enhance their security measures, especially those who are using the Microsoft management tools.

Stryker faced significant issues after the cyberattack. The company encountered issues in processing orders, manufacturing products, and managing shipments. These issues were due to a Microsoft-based environment linked to the company’s processes.
Moreover, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) also warned organizations about the current malicious activities, especially targeting the management systems. The security of these systems is essential, as they have employee access, devices, and connected applications across networks.
CISA has also announced that companies should use the security ofMicrosoft Intune, which helps companies to manage digital assets. They have also encouraged companies to have stronger configurations and implement security practices offered by Microsoft to minimize the risk of unauthorized access.
Reportedly, this attack was done by Handala, a hacking group that might be linked due to geopolitical issues. Although this information is not verified or officially announced by authorities, it still highlights how crucial it is to manage cyber threats.
Different authorities, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, are working along with CISA to deeply investigate the issue and the breach to identify what risks there are for US organizations. They aim to identify whether these issues exist across other companies using the same system.
Stryker has claimed that, although under attack, they managed to control the situation. The company further claimed that all patient-related services and connected medical devices were not impacted. They have still reported that there are a few operational delays that might affect certain procedures, which might result in a few consequences, making it critical for industries.
This incident specifies that as organizations are interconnected, a single attack might lead to a great disruption, making it important to follow the right security measures.
