Apple seems to be in the mood to lock horns with Tesla directly this time. AirPlay video streaming in parked cars, takes direct aim at Tesla’s exclusivity in the in-car entertainment domain. Tesla fans have long been floating YouTube and Netflix integration as their luxury edge. But that’s going to change in some days’ time. Whoever has iOS26 and a carplay-compatible vehicle would have access to whatever Tesla has to offer in terms of CarPlay entertainment without spending as much money.
Apple’s execution is evidently different or rather responsible than Tesla’s. The automatic motion-disable safeguards put regulators’ minds to rest that Apple can integrate entertainment responsibly, something Tesla has always clashed with the authorities over.
Apple’s intention and execution are very clear while moving into the CarPlay infotainment domain; they are aiming to own the driving experience and not the car. Features such as live sports scores and package tracking would create a subtle habit of interaction with the car that would tether the drivers to Apple’s services. Which means, to compete with Tesla, Apple doesn’t need to start building their own cars, it just needs to add drivers to an experience that would make any car more smarter than Tesla.
Every tap on the infotainment system, every long glance, and widget use would feed Apple’s advertising mechanism, making Apple more aware of your choices and subsequent offerings.

Such an easy transition grants Apple a notable advantage over its competitors within the carplay domain.
