Apple’s latest ultraportable laptop hits record-low pricing with significant discounts across retailers. The MacBook Air M4 is currently available for $799, representing a $200 discount from its $999 retail price. The deal applies to the base configuration featuring 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with multiple color options available.

The timing positions the laptop as a compelling option for holiday shoppers. This pricing matches deals seen during October Prime Day and July Prime Day events, suggesting it may represent the benchmark Black Friday offer. The 15-inch model receives similar treatment, dropping to $999 from $1,199.

Performance and Value

Apple released the M4 MacBook Air in March 2025, bringing meaningful upgrades to its most popular laptop line. The update includes the M4 chip, 16GB of RAM as standard across all models, support for two external displays, and an improved 12-megapixel camera with Center Stage.

The device delivers approximately 18 hours of battery life per charge, maintaining Apple’s reputation for all-day computing. The 13.6-inch display supports the P3 wide color gamut and reaches up to 500 nits of brightness.

Performance improvements include speeds up to twice as fast as the M1 model and up to 23 times faster than Intel-based MacBook Air models. The pricing represents a $100 reduction from previous generation starting prices, with the 13-inch model at $999 and the 15-inch at $1,199.

Design considerations include the absence of a USB-C port on the right side and a 60Hz refresh rate display. The recent release of MacBook Pro models with the M5 chip suggests a future MacBook Air refresh may arrive, though no timeline has been announced.

The discounts extend beyond base configurations, with upgraded storage options also receiving rare markdowns. Availability spans major retailers including Amazon and Best Buy, with pricing varying slightly by color selection.
