The new lineup includes three popular titles across genres, and to mark the milestone occasion, Sony is also giving away a free set of commemorative avatars based on fan favorite franchises.
PlayStation Plus which first launched in June 2010 has grown into one of Sony’s flagship services delivering online multiplayer access, cloud storage, exclusive discounts, and monthly game drops.
This year’s anniversary celebration has already seen titles like Diablo IV, The King of Fighters XV, and Jusant added to the catalog. The August lineup continues that momentum, giving players a fresh trio of games starting August 5.
Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2 Join the Lineup
Leading this month’s selection is Lies of P, the dark, Pinocchio inspired soulslike action RPG that earned an 8 out of 10 in IGN’s review. Developed by Neowiz and Round8 Studio, Lies of P was praised for its challenging combat, eerie atmosphere, and creative spin on the classic tale. PlayStation Plus members can grab it on both PS4 and PS5, making it accessible to a wide audience of action RPG fans.
Next up is DayZ for PS4, the iconic open world survival game that helped shape the modern survival genre. Originally launched as a mod before becoming a standalone title, DayZ drops players into a post apocalyptic world filled with zombies, human threats, and brutal realism.
With up to 60 players per server, no two playthroughs are ever the same. It is a great addition for those who enjoy long term survival challenges and tense multiplayer encounters.
Rounding out the list is My Hero One’s Justice 2, a 3D arena fighter based on the My Hero Academia anime and manga series. This sequel improves upon the first game with a larger roster, smoother combat, and more customization options. Fans of anime fighting games or the series itself will find plenty to enjoy in this action packed title.
All three games will be available to claim for PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium members starting August 5, 2025.
Free 15th Anniversary Avatars Add Extra Flair
In addition to the new games, Sony is also celebrating PlayStation Plus’s 15 year milestone with a free avatar pack for subscribers. As announced by PlayStation’s Director of Game Services Adam Michel, the avatar set includes characters and visuals from major franchises like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV, God of War Ragnarök, and Twisted Metal.
These avatars will be available for free starting August 5 and can be claimed directly through the PlayStation Store. They offer a nice bit of personalization for users who want to show off their gaming preferences on their profiles.
While it is a small bonus, this type of community driven reward helps solidify Sony’s long term connection with its fanbase. Anniversary themed events like this also signal that Sony sees PlayStation Plus not just as a subscription, but as a growing ecosystem that continues to evolve with its players.
Last Chance to Claim July’s Titles
Sony also issued a reminder that Diablo IV, The King of Fighters XV, and Jusant will be leaving the PlayStation Plus monthly game selection on August 4. Subscribers who have not yet added them to their libraries still have a few days left. Once added, they remain accessible as long as the player maintains an active PlayStation Plus membership.
Diablo IV was one of the most high profile drops for PlayStation Plus in 2025, arriving just one year after its full release. It offered PS Plus members a deep dungeon crawling experience with massive replay value and seasonal content. Similarly, The King of Fighters XV brought solid fighting mechanics and an expansive roster, while Jusant offered a meditative climbing adventure from Don’t Nod, the creators of Life is Strange.
The variety in July’s lineup shows that Sony is trying to cater to different tastes and genres, a strategy that appears to be continuing into August.
Building Momentum Ahead of the Holiday Season
Sony’s August 2025 lineup arrives at a time when many gamers begin preparing for fall releases and year end gaming marathons. With Gamescom 2025 just weeks away, Sony is likely to announce more perks, bundles, or limited time offers tied to the PlayStation Plus service.
The company has also been expanding the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog for Extra and Premium members. Its combined with monthly games and online features, PS Plus continues to position itself as a strong competitor in the growing subscription gaming market.
August’s offerings bring something for everyone. With Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2 on deck, Sony is delivering value while celebrating the legacy of its long running membership service. What else is Sony up to? Is it going to be a blockstar bundle in 2026?
