HISTORY IS MADE: Team Liquid Wins the League of Legends Championship
In a thrilling conclusion to the 2022 League of Legends Championship, Team Liquid has emerged victorious, claiming the title of World Champions. The North American team, led by their star jungler, Kim "Reignover" Yeu-jin, defeated their opponents, DWG KIA, in a closely contested best-of-five match.
The crowd at the Shanghai Stadium was electric as the two teams took to the stage, each determined to lift the coveted Summoner’s Cup. Team Liquid, known for their strong teamwork and aggressive gameplay, were favorites to win going into the finals. DWG KIA, on the other hand, had been on a hot streak in the latter stages of the tournament, upsetting top-seeded teams left and right.
The first game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading objectives and kills. In the end, Team Liquid emerged victorious, taking the first game 26-22. The Korean team bounced back in game two, with their star mid laner, Heo "ShowMaker" Su, dominating the enemy jungler, Jake "Xmithie" Puchero.
The third game was a wild ride, with both teams going toe-to-toe in a series of intense team fights. Team Liquid’s top laner, Eric "Licorice" Ritchie, played a crucial role in the game, using his Dr. Mundo to soak up damage and secure key kills. In the end, Team Liquid took the game 25-21, putting them up 2-1 in the series.
DWG KIA refused to give up, however, and they pushed Team Liquid to the limit in game four. The Korean team’s support duo, Cho "BeryL" Geon-hee and Jang "Nuguri" Ha-gwon, were particularly impressive, using their precise positioning and timing to pick off enemy champions and secure key objectives. In the end, DWG KIA took the game 27-25, sending the series to a decisive game five.
The final game was a nail-biter, with both teams giving it their all. Team Liquid’s Reignover played a masterclass game, using his Azir to outmaneuver and outposition the enemy team. The team’s ADC, Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in, also played a crucial role, using his Tristana to secure key kills and help his team push towards the enemy Nexus.
In the end, it was Team Liquid who emerged victorious, taking the game 25-21 and claiming the championship title. The team was overcome with emotion as they lifted the Summoner’s Cup, capping off an incredible journey to the top.
"We’re absolutely thrilled to have won the championship," said Reignover in a post-match interview. "We’ve worked so hard as a team, and to see it all pay off is an incredible feeling."
The win marks Team Liquid’s first League of Legends World Championship title, and cements their status as one of the best teams in the world. For DWG KIA, the loss will sting, but they can take pride in their impressive run to the finals.
The 2022 League of Legends Championship will be remembered for years to come, and Team Liquid’s victory will go down in history as one of the greatest moments in the sport.
