Insider Sales Hit $12.6B as NVIDIA and Palantir Face Valuation Caution

The equity market of artificial intelligence has been embracing investor attention over several years now, mostly due to players like NVIDIA Corporation and Palantir Technologies, Inc.

However, insiders at both companies have dumped approximately $12.6 billion worth of their respective stock since early December 2020, indicating caution before the 2026 fiscal year.

An “insider” refers to a high-ranking employee, member of the board, or beneficial owner holding at least 10% of a company’s outstanding shares.

These are folks who may possess non-public information and know their company better than anyone on Wall Street or Main Street.

Powerful Competitors and their Competitive Advantages

The leadership of NVIDIA in the area of artificial intelligence hardware cannot be rivaled.

Its graphics processing units run more than 90% of the AI data-center load across the globe, with more recent developments including the Hopper and the Blackwell architecture that push gross margins close to seventy percent.

The CUDA programming system highlights the ecosystem, and hence NVIDIA has high rates of developer retention.

Its market capitalization is around $4.474 trillion, as of December 2025.

Palantir Technologies leverages the artificial intelligence trend and its Gotham and Foundry SaaS applications.

Gotham offers mission-based planning services to government bodies, which delivers predictable and consistent cash flow over a long period.

Foundry enables the growth of enterprise data analytics. The market capitalization of Palantir has soared dramatically; its market cap of $448 billion now puts it among the 25 most valuable publicly traded companies. a 2,700% gain since 2023.

Insider Selling and Concerns of Valuation

Despite strong expansion, insiders in both companies have completed large sales i.e., NVIDIA (US) and Palantir (US) have made $5.4 billion and $7.2 billion deals respectively since 2020.

This sort of pattern is often viewed as a sign of management confidence towards existing firm valuation.

While Wall Street remains strongly bullish about NVDA, analysts remain skeptical about PLTR stock and rate it an overall “Hold.”

Out of the 21 analysts covering the stock, four have a “Strong Buy” recommendation, 14 rate it a “Hold,” one says it is a “Moderate Sell,” and two say it is a “Strong Sell.”

Nonetheless, analysts see potential upside of 38% from current levels based on PLTR’s average target price of $192.67.

Plus, the high price estimate of $255 implies an upside potential of 92% over the next 12 months

Outlook for 2026

A key innovation that Wall Street looks forward to is the serious juncture when AI equities will hit the 2026 period. True to historical records, the result of technological exuberance has often resulted in corrections within a market.

In the case of the burst of an AI bubble, NVIDIA and Palantir could heavily depreciate. Investors are therefore advised to carefully consider the actions of insiders and exaggerated value ratios before committing huge amounts of capital.
